A Cessna aircraft performed an emergency landing on Hungarian highway M1-M7 on Monday, according to state news agency MTI. Although the incident occurred on a busy highway, no one was injured.
Director Csongor Vályi of Budaörs Airport told MTI that the Cessna took off on a training flight with two people on board and was forced to land due to an engine failure. He added that pilots are trained to use an adequate terrain nearby if the aircraft is still flying but unable to be controlled properly.
The highway is exceptionally wider at the landing location – which is on the outskirts of Budapest, hence, this could help avoiding any major crash or injury.
Hungarian tabloid newspaper Blikk has published a video about the landed aircraft, which had been recorded by a eyewitness.
