Wizz Air has announced its new flight from Budapest to Porto which will start on 4 September. The new service will be available twice a week on Sunday and Wednesday. This operation will make Porto the second Portuguese destination accessible from Budapest via a direct flight.
It seems that Wizz Air created a convenient schedule, as the flight leaves Budapest at 7.00 on both days and after more than 3.5 hours of flight time arrives in Porto at 9.35. The backward flight takes-off at 10.10 Portugal time and lands at Liszt Ferenc Airport at 14.35.
Porto will be the second destination to Portugal from Budapest served by Wizz Air, after the launch of the flight to Lisbon in March 2015. Since the beginning of the summer flight schedule, Wizz Air is the only airline operating the Budapest-Lisbon route, as TAP Portugal ended its Budapest flight after more than 10 years of service.
Wizz Air has launched its first-ever flight to Porto from Warsaw a month ago, hence, the Hungarian capital will be the second city connected with Porto via a direct flight with the low-cost airline. With already announced and launching 10 new routes from Budapest, it is clear that József Váradi’s air carrier is very generous with its first Hungarian base. This year has already brought new services to Nice and Reykjavik, while Ibiza starts in June and Bucharest alongside Sofia will be restarted in September and November.
The one-way tickets to Porto start at 8990 HUF (cca. €30) with a small cabin bag included. Hopefully, the airfares will remain reasonable for the fall season as warm weather, architectural masterpieces, magnificent landscape, beautiful beaches and tempting cuisine are assured in that time of the year in this Northern Portuguese city.
